Dear Parents/Guardians:

CHHS is pleased to announce the addition of Speech and Debate to our 2022-2023 course offerings.

The purpose of this course is to offer an academic elective for those students who are interested in:

1. Increasing their confidence and leadership skills
2. Improving their oral and written communication skills
3. Exploring viewpoints that are different than their own
4. Developing strong research skills that will support their college and work success
5. Becoming more socially conscious

The skills acquired in this course will transfer to all areas of life requiring critical thinking, reasoning, negotiating, sharing ideas and persuasion.

The participants in this course will also become the foundation of our school's competitive speech and debate team.  As a member of the team, students will have the opportunity to compete in local, state and national competitions.
