Chapel Hill Middle School- An Advanced Academic and Fine Arts Theme School

admin

The faculty and staff at Chapel Hill Middle School is extremely excited about the 2019-2020 school year! Our vision at Chapel Hill Middle School is to be a model middle school, and with this focus, we have many accolades resulting from the hard work and dedication of everyone at CHMS, which includes teachers, parents, and the incredible students.

Our science department continues to be one of the best in the state. This year, every science fair project from our school advanced to the district level. Regis Harris, Kennedy Rogers, Chase Curtis, and Samuel White’s projects were all elevated to the state level.

Kennedy Rogers, an 8th grade student, was awarded the Broadcom MASTERS Science Award. From a pool of more than 2,500 entrants, only 30 were invited to compete during the national finals week in Washington, DC. Kennedy had the opportunity of a lifetime: meeting top scientists and engineers, exploring the capital, and being inspired to use her STEM skills to make a difference in the world. Congratulations, Kennedy.

Our math team had great success at the county math competition this year. Our sixth grade won second place in the individual competition. In the group competition, our seventh grade took home first honors and the eighth grade took second.

The athletic programs at Chapel Hill also continue to be successful. Our seventh-grade boys basketball team won the County Championship with an amazing, undefeated season of 14-0. Our boys and girls track teams celebrated county championships as well. Softball, both girls & boys' soccer, and the eighth-grade boys' basketball, respectfully, all took runner-up in the county.

Fueling our excitement even further, the construction that has been taking place this summer has us all in a buzz. Because of our growing population, the new administrative offices and eighth-grade wing are much anticipated additions to our campus. It is our hope that the construction on these projects will be completed by the end of spring.

At Chapel Hill Middle School, we have a long history of academic and athletic excellence. We ask for our parents and students to partner with us as we continue our pathway of success. We invite all CHMS parents to visit our website www.chmswildcats.com to review the details of our CCRPI rating, updated student handbook, and other important information.

Our administrative staff, Dr. Jolene Morris, Amy Ludlow, Jamar Graham, and Cindy Allen, looks forward to working with all our CHMS families in 2019-2020 school year.

Jolene Morris, Ed. D
Principal
