Dear CHMS Students and Parents:
Welcome to the start of the 2022/2023 school year at Chapel Hill Middle School! I am proud to continue our long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts. The new school year will begin on Wednesday, August 3rd. My goal is for every student to learn, reach their fullest potential, and have fun!
This letter includes some initial information for the upcoming year. For most of our communication, we will send information via email/text. Please log in to your Parent Portal/Infinite Campus to verify that we have your correct contact information.
Sneak-A-Peek: Monday, August 1st from 5:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. During this time, you will be able to meet your teachers, visit classrooms, receive bus information, and much more.
Schedule: Student schedules for this school year are available to view via Parent Portal/Infinite Campus. Sometimes it is necessary to make changes to the schedule in order to balance class sizes, etc. Parent Portal will reflect the most current schedule. **It is very important that you create a Parent Portal account so that you are able to view your student’s grades and attendance in real-time throughout the school year. School Day: The school day begins at 9:00 A.M. and ends at 4:10 P.M. Students can be dropped off at school as early as 8:00 A.M. Students who arrive between 8:00 A.M. and 8:40 A.M. will stay in the cafeteria. Students arriving after 8:40 A.M. may go to the cafeteria for breakfast or straight to their class. Students should be in class and ready to learn by 9:00 A.M. each day. Please make sure your student is picked up by 4:30 P.M.
1st Week Procedures: 6th grade students will report to their 3rd period class first in order to begin their CHMS Orientation. 7th and 8th grade students will begin in 1st period (A Schedule).
School Supplies: Students will need one three-ring binder (3-4 inches wide), 7 dividers with pockets, notebook paper, pens/pencils, colored pencils, highlighters, markers. Students should have a backpack that holds the items listed above, as well as their school-issued Chromebook and Agenda.
Dress Code: Students should dress comfortably and appropriately for school each day. The following will be strictly followed: 1. No hats/hoods 2. Shorts, skirts, and dresses should not be more than 3 inches from the top of the knee. 3. No holes above the knees (that show skin). 4. Pants should be worn at the waist. 5. All shirts should cover the stomach, and not be low cut. 6. Tights/leggings are acceptable when worn with a long top which follows the 3 inch rule.
Extra-Curricular Activities: Please visit the school website for all athletic information, including tryouts and physical forms. A complete list of clubs & activities are being finalized and will be available on the school website by the start of school. I encourage all students to get involved!!

CHMS Administrative Changes: There have been some changes to our Administrative team this year. Mrs. Taylor will move from the 6th grade Administrator to the 8th grade. I am excited to announce the addition of Mr. Hopping and Mr. Boynton to our team! They both have extensive educational experience and look forward to serving our students and families.
