Welcome to the Chapel Hill Middle
School Counseling Department   

The Chapel Hill Middle School Counseling Department provides a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of each student. We accomplish this by meeting with students individually, offering group counseling, and teaching developmentally appropriate lessons in each grade. Chapel Hill Middle School alumni are socially, emotionally, well-adjusted, and resilient lifelong learners who thrive in a 21st-century global society. They are responsible individuals, independent thinkers, productive citizens realizing their personal aptitudes and continuously working towards being the best version of themselves.

CHMS School Counseling Mission Statement:

It is the mission of the Chapel Hill Middle School counseling program to employ a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program. The school counselors provide a quality education and advocacy services nurturing the whole child academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and creatively to prepare them to meet the demands of the 21st century, to become lifelong learners, and to become contributing members of society. The school counselors utilize a developmentally aligned, evidence-based curriculum to deliver classroom instruction, small group, and individual counseling in a safe and supportive environment. In collaboration with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders, the counselors assist all students in the realization of their full potential. 

Douglas County Schools follow the ASCA guidelines and utilize a comprehensive school counseling program that emphasizes equipping students for success academically, socially/emotionally, and in their career preparedness.

A. Recognized American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Model Program.

Q. What is a RAMP School of Distinction?

A. CHMS earned a perfect score on the RAMP application resulting in the title School of Distinction!

Q. How did CHMS earn the RAMP recognition?

A. The counselors completed a rigorous application demonstrating the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program.

Q. How long does the RAMP designation last?

A. Schools re-apply for the RAMP designation every 5 years. 

Q. What is so important about earning RAMP School of Distinction?

A. Earning the RAMP status ensures the CHMS counseling department is consistently working towards positively impacting student outcomes.
