Chapel Hill Middle School- An Advanced Academic and Fine Arts Theme School

admin

The Chapel Hill Middle School faculty and staff is excited about the 2018-2019 school year! Our goal at CHMS is to continue to increase academic rigor for all students. CHMS has a strong history for academic and athletic excellence, and each year we strive to continuously improve.

In reflecting on our accomplishments from last year, I am proud of your students and their hard work and dedication to both academics and athletics. The Wildcat community continues to fulfill the CHMS mission of developing the whole child academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and creatively.

I am so proud of the accomplishments that your students earned during the 2017-2018 school year. The CHMS Math Team won first place honors in the county math competition and the Tome Reading Bowl Team won the State Reading Bowl Competition! Wildcat students also continue to excel in District, Regional, and State Science Fairs.

Your students continue to be successful on the athletic fields, as well! Both the Boys and Girls Track Teams celebrated county championships in spring 2018. Additionally, the 7th grade Boys Basketball Team won the County Championship. Finally, your CHMS girls soccer team won the County Soccer Championship.

In addition to your students’ athletic success, our Advanced Art Program continues to thrive.  Each grade level of students participating in advanced art had opportunities to experience special field trips last year. The sixth grade advanced art students visited the Carlos Museum, seventh graders visited the High Museum of Art, and the eighth graders had the opportunity to visit Kennesaw State University’s Zuckerman Museum and Visual Arts Department.

I am proud to share that Wildcat Kalaezia Collins was appointed to the State Superintendent of Schools’ student advisory council. This council is made of a group of students in grades 7-12 who discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia.

Please take time to visit the CHMS website www.chmswildcats.com to review the details of our CCRPI rating, the updated student handbook and other important information as we embark on another year. I, along with my assistant principals Cindy Allen, Jamar Graham and Amy Ludlow, look forward to working  with our CHMS families during the 2018-2019 school year!
